Curing the Foundation
When I moved in I quickly learned that this house is not on a reasonable foundation for the climate. The normally heavy rains were causing dirty water to rise up between floor tiles in the house. So, I inspected the water flow, contours, the rain carved nano-trenches under the roof line… and the area surrounding my immediate space. The drainage, the “blocks,” opportunities and challenges. As of now, 29 March 2015, I have accomplished five stages of water control work immediately around the house and off premise. Following is a photo essay.
What I have learned from this site – it has natural drains which are plugged. As I dig into and amend those drains and plant more, the natural hydrological system should kick-in.
